Who'll Take Care of Our Church Tomorrow?

An article ran in the Cleveland Plain Dealer about St. Stanislaus the Church in which I was Baptized. It laments the fact attendance is down and the volunteers are aging without much hope for a generation of devoted helpers to follow.

It's the same almost everywhere.

Do you suppose that the scandals of the last several years is causing this?

IMO, the bishops have been able to protect certain priests for certain acts and have also been able to con those suing into pitifully small settlements in some cases pleading poverty, but everything happens for a reason.

I wonder what the "new" catholic church will look like, as I believe that there will be a successor church, at least here here in the states.

I can understand your feelings. I belonged to St.Albertus Church in Detroit, MI. It was the home to immigrants post WWII. The downsizing closed its doors. The church and school were a great part of the community and my safe haven as a child.
