JPII is with us
Poland claims the largest statue of Jesus Christ in the world, and now claims the largest statue of Pope John Paul II.
The white fibreglass 45 foot figure of JPII will tower over, home to Poland's most important Catholic pilgrimage site, Jasna Gora and the portrait of the "Black Madonna" thought to be painted by St. Luke.
Leszek Lyson funded the project with the saute of the pontiff smiling and stretching his arms to the world.
Lyson called the pope "a great and good man". He said: "His statue should make everyone stop and think about life". See more on JPII
