Private Property Rights - Polish style

A few months ago, Poland was slammed by WHO for not doing enough to clamp down on smoking.

Poland’s lower house of parliament has voted for a liberal amendment to a bill banning tobacco smoking in public places.

The bill makes provision for accommodating smokers in a wide range of public places. For a start, whereas it used to be illegal to smoke in hospitals or schools, now it’s not.

While other countries have forced a draconian expulsion of smokers from pubs and other places, in Poland it’s now up to the owner if he wants to create “smoking zones.” In one particular pub the toilet will be the non-smoking zone.

Ahhh, the pursuit of happiness and private property rights.
