Obesity comes to Poland
There was a couple of independent actions taken in order to promote healthy life style for children. BOŚ Foundation’s was one of them – program addressed to schools called "Active For Health" was accompanied by billboards saying “It’s junk that makes children fat”. The other project was the 2007-2011 National Program for the Prevention of Obesity carried out by the Ministry of Health. Krzysztof Suszek working for the ministry says that among other enterprises, the ministry issued "The principles of proper nutrition of children and adolescents, and tips for healthy living" and "School Dinners" consisting of 60 provisions of balanced meals.
It’s also worth mentioning, that the obligation to fight obesity was imposed on EU member countries by the European Commission, while in America "Nanny State" enthusiast First Lady Michelle Obama is advocating to control children's menus.
